Connecticut Yankee Council does all the pre-work to set up the sale, eliminating the need for units to research opportunities, calculating returns, creating sales and promotional materials, managing a relationship with a vendor, etc.
Why Scouts Should Sell Popcorn!
The purpose of the Popcorn Fundraiser is to teach Scouts how to effectively engage with the public. The result is to raise funds to support the Scouting program.
Key reasons why scouts sell popcorn:
- Funding Scouting programs:
- A large portion of the proceeds from popcorn sales directly go back to supporting our local scouting programs, ensuring affordable access to activities for all scouts.
- Developing life skills:
- Selling popcorn provides an opportunity for scouts to practice customer service, communication, goal setting, and overcoming sales objections, which are important life skills.
- Building confidence:
- Successfully selling popcorn can boost a scout’s self-esteem and sense of accomplishment.
- Community engagement:
- It allows scouts to interact with their community and build positive relationships while promoting the scouting organization.
