For more than 100 years, young men and women in southwestern Connecticut have prepared themselves for life through Scouting. The Connecticut Yankee Council is the local chapter of Scouting America serving Fairfield, New Haven and parts of Hartford counties. Led by a team of dedicated professionals and an Executive Board of community and business leaders, the Connecticut Yankee Council serves more than 7,000 Scouts and is powered by thousands of volunteer leaders.
Discovery is at the heart of Scouting. Whether it’s a campout, derby car race, or hike on the trail, we believe every adventure helps us uncover a little more about ourselves. We build the foundations for humility and compassion—strengthening character through actions—to prepare youth for a lifetime of leadership.
Our Mission
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Scout Law
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Scout Oath
“On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
